Brian Ringly

Brian Ringley is a construction technologist at Boston Dynamics where he manages Spot autonomy product development for dynamic sensing in changing environments like construction sites. Before coming to Boston Dynamics, he was a construction automation researcher in commercial real estate where he piloted emerging construction robotics products and stood up a factory for the industrialized construction of office space.

He has led workshops for the Architectural Association, Smartgeometry, and RPI and lectured at the AIA National Headquarters in DC, Center for Architecture in NYC, Center for Architecture + Design in San Francisco, Boston Architectural College, TENWEST Impact Festival, Lawrence Technological University, Kansas State University, and the Digital Built Environment Institute. He has presented at numerous conferences including TechCrunch Sessions: Robotics + AI, MIT World Real Estate Forum, Council for Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, AIA TAP Building Connections, AIA Architecture Exchange East, AEC Technology Symposium, Autodesk University, Procore Groundbreak, DroneDeploy Conference, Facades+, RTC/BILT, and Shape to Fabrication, and his work has been published in the proceedings for the TxA Emerging Design + Technology Conference and the Design Modelling Symposium.

His writing, opinions, and teaching are published in “Data-Driven Design and Construction” (R. Deutsch, Wiley, 2015), “Digital Design Exercises for Architecture Students” (J.S. Johnson and J. Vermillion, Routledge, 2016), “Convergence: The Redesign of Design” (R. Deutsch, Wiley, 2017), “Superusers: How Design Technologists Drive Architectural Practice” (R.
